The temple region is surprisingly one of the more comfortable areas to treat. Restylane is formulated with lidocaine to numb the tissue internally as it is injected, and we also apply a topical numbing cream beforehand. Your injector may use a blunt-tipped micro-cannula or a fine needle to maximize safety and minimize discomfort. You might feel a dull pressure or hear a slight “crunching” sound during the injection, but actual pain is typically very minimal.
There is no medical downtime, and you can return to your normal routine immediately. You can expect mild tenderness, localized swelling, or minor bruising. Because the temples are situated near the muscles used for chewing, it is also very common to experience a temporary, mild ache or a feeling of stiffness in the jaw when eating or opening your mouth wide for the first 24 to 48 hours.
